Conquering Frustration

Part of being a keeper at home is keeping the right atmosphere at home. It is one of the biggest opportunities a woman gets, and one that is so important.
Many times I set the tone of my home. When I'm happy, things seem to be smoother. When I'm frustrated, not so much.
It is so easy to get frustrated with people. They don't do what you want them to do, they don't listen, they don't...they don't...they do...they do...Just fill in the blanks.
It's easy to be long-suffering with those of whom you know nothing, or relatively little. It's those folks that you know greatly that can get your skin crawling: with frustration, which can lead to bitterness. How ironic.
Yet, Christ says to not be full of bitterness. He says to keep our eyes upon Him. Though we may know folks know better, it isn't up to us to change them. It is the Lord who does the changing of folks. Our opportunity is to pray for them, and be ready with His Word whenever they come asking questions.
It doesn't make it any easier for our flesh. Our flesh wants to ride them, nag them, brow-beat them. We want to conquer their wills and control their actions, thoughts, words, etc. We want them to know how wrong they are, and how right we are! How pompous!
So, as we pray for them, we must also pray for us. You are not alone in this wicked battle. Indeed the Lord hit the nail on the head when He told us that we aren't fighting against flesh and blood, but principalities of darkness. When we seek the Lord in prayer, and seek to fully obey Him out of a loving-Him-heart, our lives will be wondrous! We will find that we are longsuffering, kind, full of grace and mercy, compassionate...Yet still standing for the truth.
One should never compromise truth to make one feel better, (whether that be ourselves or the others). However, we can stand for truth while being full of charity. Christ was and is. He is our example. So, when folks frustrate the tar out of you, remember Who first loved us and how He wants us to be. Remember what He wants us to do. Remember that He is long-suffering with us, and is with them as well. Let Him be the Holy Spirit. Let us be His loving, obedient, long-suffering children.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts. Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen."
Ephesians 6:10-24

  1. Thank you for sharing this! I so needed to read it! I love that verse! Every time I read it, I feel empowered in God and it's so deep. So many wonderful things to get from it. Beautiful post and so true about being a keeper of the home.

  3. You are so right. Thank you again because I re-read that verse in whole when I read your blog. I always think, "Well, why bother? I've already read it!" But that is so wrong. Even when we read a verse once, the second time is like watching a detailed and complex movie...You always seem to have missed something. Or a new way of looking at it comes about.

Thanks to you my husband and I read our devos last night and while already in the Word, I decided to look up Psalm 139 again. I am so happy I read the whole thing. It is beautiful!
