2013 August Day Book

Outside my window...

...Are trees.

I am thinking...

...About what God is going to do with us in our new locale.

I am thankful...

...That God's Word is powerful against Satan!

In the kitchen...

...Is baking a mozzarella-sauced chicken bake. :)

I am wearing...

...a comfy caftan.

I am creating... updated, hopefully consistently up-to-date blog.

I am going...

...To keep looking to Christ.

I am wondering...

...About God's providence in our lives.

I am reading...

I am hoping...

...In Jesus.

I am looking forward to...

...Answered prayers.

I am learning...

...That the changes the Lord has made in our lives, have only caused us to grow closer to Him, one another, and fellow believers.

Around the house...

...Is a sense of preparation.

I am pondering...

...the spiritual state of our new town.

A favorite quote for today...

..."You can't do a wrong thing the right way."
Bryan Denlinger (and he quoted this phrase from another)

One of my favorite things...

...Is seeing God move in our lives.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

1.  Patiently await God's answer for some particularly weighty decisions in our lives
2.  Read the Bible
3. Pray

A peek into my day...

Good Music

I find it difficult to find truly good, sound, uplifting, encouraging, godly music. Too often I stumble across performances, sounding just like the world. Often, I settle for the performance of the song I enjoy. (I know that there are people who have recorded for the glory of God and edification of the saints, not to sound like the world. I just have a difficult time finding them. :/ )
However, I have found a couple brothers recently online. The songs are so encouraging, and their singing is not for a performance, but edification of the saints and glorification of God. I LOVE listening to these songs!
Here is the link if you are interested in checking them out: Old Path Sermons: Lindsey Brothers. I downloaded all their songs. :) One of these days I'll figure out how to add them to my site as well. :)

God bless and enjoy!

"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;...Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Home is where the heart is, right?

That's what they say.

So, where is your heart?

Maybe you'll say it's at home:  your house.  That's where all your loved ones are:  your family.

Maybe you'll say it's in your work:  your ministry.  That's where you devote most of your time:  your sacrifice.

Maybe you'll say it's within you:  your heart.  That's where you keep everything most precious:  the seat of your emotions.

I say, for me, it's Heaven.

Home is Heaven, where Christ is.

Home is Heaven, where God is.

God has given me a taste of Home, by putting His Spirit in my heart.

I long for community; for belonging.  I long to dwell with those of a mutual faith, a mutual love, likemindedness, unity, purpose, peace, joy...Home.

I have realized, that Home is where the heart is.

My heart is to be desiring Heaven, where my Father is.

I am learning to set my affections on Heavenly things.

I am learning that this world is not my Home.

I am learning to be content whithersoever I am.

I am learning that nothing can substitute Heaven.

I am learning that my community is Heaven.

I am realizing that the only place I belong is Heaven.

I am realizing my purpose on Earth.

I am learning that it is o.k. to not be satisfied with the world.

I am thankful to be able to experience so much of God's creation, in many different parts of the earth.

I am thankful that I am still usable by my Father, wherever He places me.

I am thankful that I do not journey this foreign sod alone, but have Dear to go along with me.

I am learning to be mindful that this world is not my home, I'm just a-passin' through.

I am learning that my longing for Home is to be pointed Heaven-ward.

Home is where the heart is.

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."
(Colossians 3:1-3)
