Prayer Mode

Over at my friend's blog, The Imperfect Housewife, she has a post that I would like you to see. She has touched on an idea that has gotten my attention. I think it might yours, too.
It is regarding prayer. Praying for each other. Sharing our burdens as ladies and praying faithfully for one another. It is a great opportunity to seek our Lord for one another!
There is the thought that Mondays would be a good day to prepare for the week, by sharing those prayers that day. I do not know about you, but it seems that every time after church services on a Sunday, Monday rolls around and the heated battle is on! I know I could use extra prayer that day from faithful sisters in Christ! :)
Here is the link for my friend's site: http://theimperfecthousewife.com/2011/06/reader-input-needed/. Why do you not stop for a visit? Thank you!

How Blessed!

I feel totally honored and loved by God right now! Every now and then, He lets me experience above-and-beyond-measure blessings. I sure appreciate those experiences!
     Today, I received news that I won a give-away from "It's A Blessing's" blog contest! I am amazed!  I am excited, too!
This blog, or rather, the owners of it, have a wonderful little etsy shop. They are Christians striving to be blessings to others. Why do you not view their shop and blog? You will be blessed!

By the way, here's the link for the post today regarding my win!

Yes, I Have, and Yes, I Do

© new-motorbike.blogspot.com 2011

My good acquaintance, Gail, at the Imperfect Housewife, has a great article today. It's titled "Do You Ever?..." And yes, you have and do.

It touched home with me, because of my day today. But, God's grace is seeing me through! I thank Him for always keeping me in check. :)

I highly recommend you go over to her site and read the article. Maybe even share your thoughts, as they will be beneficial, no doubt! I look forward to seeing what you have to say!

God bless!

Culinary Somethinorother: Homemade Shrimp Taco Recipe

Mmm...Mondays can be delicious!

Today I decided to be a culinary somethinorother. Never heard of such a thing? That is okay. It is probably an Ohio thing. :)
As lunch time came calling today, I decided I wanted to make something really delicious, simple, and use up some leftovers in my refrigerator before they spoiled. I was in a spicy-kind-of-mood today, too, (especially since my sinuses were starting to flare). FYI: I have been told that spicy foods eaten on a regular basis can encourage a cancer-free life. Thoughts, validations, rebuttals, folks?
So, here is the list of foods I planned on eliminating from a refrigerator death:

*1 lb. cooked baby shrimp meat
*1/2 cup sliced white mushrooms
*6 oz. Philadelphia Regular Cream Cheese
*12 oz. Pico de Gallo w/Lime
*1 cup cooked sticky white rice

Then I added:
*1 pkg. Kroger-brand Fajita seasoning mix
*1 Tbs. minced garlic
*1 Tbs. chopped yellow onion
*1 Tbs. Land O' Lakes Butter
*Soft corn tortillas
*Vegetable oil

Then I did this:

Melt butter over medium heat in large skillet. Once melted, add garlic, mushrooms, onions, and shrimp. Stir for about 5 minutes, then add Pico de Gallo, squeezing lime over food in skillet. Mix in Fajita seasoning and rice, then stir well. (You will have to break apart the rice, but it becomes easier as it warms in the mixture.) Turn heat to low-medium low, stirring consistently so as not to stick to skillet. Add cream cheese, stir well. Lower temperature of skillet to lowest setting, and let simmer/set.
In another skillet, warm on medium heat about a cap-full of vegetable (or olive) oil. Once oil is warm, place one corn tortilla in, let slightly bubble, then flip over to bubble up, then place on prepared plate. (You might have to take paper towels to soak up any excess oil.) Turn heat off skillets, spoon about two tablespoons of shrimp mixture in tortilla, roll up, enjoy!

Silencing Ourselves

© 500motivators.com 2011

Ever wish you had a handy roll of duct tape for your mouth, so that every time you were about to say something you should not, or share information that is not for sharing, etc., it would automatically be put on your mouth to keep you from sinning?...Yeah, me, too.

Unfortunately, it is not that easy. Fortunately, God has given plenty of scripture to view for examples and commands on speech. I think of Ham, Noah's son, who uncovered his father's sin. Shem and Japheth were wise, loving sons, who avoided snooping into their father's sin, but rather cover it with love--Genesis 9:20-27.
What about David? He could have blasted Saul for his hatred toward him, but rather spoke kindly and respectfully to the anointed king of Israel. Ruth was noticed for her godliness, and was married to a wonderful man due to it.
There are many exhortations on speaking with grace and kindness. The Proverbial woman is known by her trait of kindness and wisdom in her speech. Yet, I find myself all too often struggling with this wicked tongue.
I do find comfort in the fact that I am not alone in this battle. Realizing that there are many verses exhorting Christians, not just women Christians, to watch their mouth brings a sigh of relief. Knowing that I have a great Saviour through whom is the victory is my biggest source of comfort!
There will always be temptations to share "facts," when really they are not needed to be shared. There will always be times when one's anger GREATLY tempts them to lash out with the tongue. There are always temptations to backbite, gossip, use foul "modern" language, etc., because the flesh is wicked and Satan's busy. However, there is a great God and Saviour who equips us women and is ready to do battle for us against these foes!
As I pray for my sisters in Christ everywhere, for Christ's protection over their tongue, would you pray for me, too? I do not want to glorify Satan, but Christ! May I be just like the Proverbial woman when it says:

"She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness."
Proverbs 31:26
May we always remember the warnings of an unbridled tongue, as well as the fatherly commands to keep us in the right speech (and mind)!

"Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue."
Psalm 120:2
"If any man among you seem religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain."
James 1:26
"Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell...But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."
James 3:5, 6, 8
"For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:"
1 Peter 3:10

God-Given Inquisitiveness

I am really enjoying this gorgeous day! I can see the mountains, the waters, the islands, the farmland, the SUN! Oh, God is such a blessing to me!
Not only do I get to enjoy His marvelous masterful artwork, I also get to enjoy the marriage He has allowed me to have. As everyone who is married knows, it's not always an easy road, but definitely a worthwhile one when you're doing it through Christ! Yes, today is a GOOD day!
I always find it worthwhile upon which to muse, the fact that the weather can be a boost to one's temperament. It is true that it is all in one's perception. You can enjoy the rainy weather, which I do (especially if it's a thunderstorm!), but typically we people enjoy the sunshine.
I am glad that God made me the way I am. I am a creature who enjoys figuring out things. I like a good problem to solve. That inquisitiveness that He gave me keeps my mind from going to mush. There are those unfortunate times that I've used it against His will, but He always fixes that problem!
Today I am purposing to use it to figure out a nice recipe for dinner! I am going to use my inquisitiveness, spunk, and down-homeness to give my husband a delightful snack-before-dinner and dinner. There are times when I have done experiments that have been entitled "Slop," but it's a tasty one. There are those other times, though, that it has really turned out with a nicer name, i.e., Fajita Stew. So, I will let you know what today's recipe is called, at a later date. :)
What is something that God has given you in your personality that you are purposing to use today as a blessing to your husband and/or family? I would LOVE to hear!

P.S. Today is Thursday link-up over at the Imperfect Housewife! Check out all the other gals sharing their recipes, thoughts, and other fun things!

What To Choose?

Oh, the joys of shopping (especially when you enjoy the store)!

Some of my friends and family now know how much I enjoy Bulk Herb Store. There are many reasons I like this store, so let me count the ways:

1.) Since I'm *trying* to live a healthier lifestyle, it helps to have a go-to place for information. This site is packed with good information!

2.) I haven't found one thing with which I'm not interested--in fact, it's been difficult for me to stop adding to my "Wish-List" that one day I'm giving Dear. :)

3.) They are on YouTube, with fun videos regarding homemade concoctions for your health. I really enjoy the smoothie ones! Once I order the Herba-Smoothie Mix Kit, I'm gonna have some fun!

4.) Their site is so fun! The color-scheme is definitely appealing. (I like aesthetically-pleasing sites!)

5.) They're on FB, which consistently updates me and shares quality info. I really like this part, since I can be a FB junkie.

6.) There are some great resource books on their site, and since I greatly enjoy reading, this is a BIG plus!

7.) They're Christians! What a better testimony than the fact that they're excited and knowledgeable not only about health, but about Christ! (Check out No Greater Joy.)

So, if you're ever curious about health, presents for your loved one (ahem), or fun stuff for yourself, check them out over there!
